| New element but still no heat! |
Okay...
I have a LeisureRite spa, which I bought new and is now about 8 yrs old. It has a AP-1 control system pack 2 pump, I think was built by Spa Builders support group inc. The problem I'm having is the spa stopped heating and I replaced the element (stainless steel bulkhead) which is on the bottom of the control system with a new one. Everything works except for heat, still no heat. Now, the topside control is air pushbutton and the panel indicator light is on but the heat light on the control pack itself is NOT on. The pushbutton switch with three settings, the thermostat knob and the timer clock on the control box that controls heater cycles all work but it's not heating the water. In the manual it said to check to see if the Flo Switch is unplugged but I'm not sure where that switch is located and I have no idea where the Pressure Switch is at! The control box has two contactor units plus what seems to be a aquatemp voltage regulator. It's wired for 220 V 50 amps. I'm guessing that some switch is not engaging the heater but which one?
Any help will greatly be appreciated!
Thanks |

AP-1 Controller
Hey Confused,
I bought a house with a Spa and it has an AP-1 controller. I'm having the same problem where I can't get any heat out of it. Everything else seems to work well but I don't have any idea where to find this stuff and there wasn't a manual left behind. I'm wondering if you know where I can find a manual online and where you bought your parts. My email address is neophyte69@hotmail.com. I appreciate any help you can provide.
Thx

Well, if you locate the controller the heating element is underneath the unit itself, inside a silver stainless steel bulkhead. Now, if it is the flow switch, it will be mounted on top inside the elbow on the left. I doubt you will find or get a manual for this model now but I still have mine. These units seem to work pretty well and last a long time with proper maintainence. I'm in the process of replacing one of the pump motors but it lasted ten years! Hope this helps. |
