| No heat? |
Hi everyone. Looking for some help. I have an off brand tub...with a balboa heater/control board. It has recently stopped heating.
I'd like to know if there is an easy way to determine if I need to replace the heating element and if so, how to find out what to get to replace it and if that is something I can do myself.
Everything else seems to be working just fine. I probably do not own some of the required electrical testing equipment. |

Well if you're getting a heat indication on the top control panel, the only other thing you can do is to check to be sure the element is getting voltage.
You'll need a $20 or so tester available from any home depot or other store.
Don't replace any parts unless you know what you're replacing is indeed defective. |

Not sure what you mean by heat indication. My panel is very basic... I have economy, standard, and sleep. Normally when on economy the heater will heat to the set temp. Now it fails to do so, remaining at a steady 67 or 68.
What kind of tester should I look for, a voltometer? |

A light (or other indicator) on the top control panel that says HEAT or heater, or heating or whatever.
Balboa's do have this.
Which mode is it in now?
Economy, Sleep, or Standard?
(Are you sure?) |

My panel does not have a heat indicator. It might flash between the set temp and the current temp? Maybe that's the indicator?
I know what setting the tub is at, I've tried both econ and standard. Neither one produces an increase in temperature.
What's my next step? |
