| Runs All The Time, Never Gets Above 95 |
Ok, so we bought a used Dimension One (Cimmaron) Hot Tub. Only paid $100 and another $350 for a new circuit board, control panel & heater. Runs great, the only thing is that on 110volts, the heater only runs at low speed, which isn't a problem but, it's running all the time & has never got above 95 degrees. We had a spa tech come out, before we threw the breaker on, after replacing the circuit board. He said everything is connected correctly. The heater replacement is a no brainer so, I know it's hooked up right.
There's one pump, all the lines are clear & the jets spew forth great pressure with no restrictions. It's supposed to run on either 110 or 220, on 220 the heater will run t low & high speeds. The only thing I can think to do, is rewire for 220. Winter is coming & we live in Syracuse, NY. I know it's nothing like Iowa or Minnesota winters but still, it's been 80 degrees the last few weeks, off & on and we have a cover on it WITH a black tarp over that to attract as much solar heat as possible.
Any bright ideas?

Re: Runs All The Time, Never Gets Above 95
Your spa could be heating the water to 95 just by running the pump on low speed for long periods of time, you need to do an amp draw to make sure your heater is beeing engaged. This spa can be wired to 220v which is the best way to run a spa. if you do not have an amp clamp, you can lower the temp until the pump stops running on low speed, then turn on the low speed,,, go to your electrical meter, look at the disk that turns, count how many seconds it takes to turn once. try it for a couple of times, then go to the spa, raise the temperature until you see that it's heating, go back to the electrical panel, if the disk turns faster, then you heater IS beeing activated; if not, for some reason the heater is not on, then you want to see if you have any other problems like hi limit, flow error etc. if so, you will see the heater light blinking. count how many times is blinking, that is your error code. |

Re: Runs All The Time, Never Gets Above 95
Well now we have a new problem; No power going to the heater. The heater is fine, but I'm afraid me new circuit board has went belly up. When I test the two connections for the heater, there is no electricity at terminals 1 & 3 on my board, P/N 51491. I'm going to pull the board tomorrow & see if there's any indication of failure, on the backside. A friend of mine had a similar problem, where one of the soldered circuits had just a bit too much solder & i shorted out, in the steel enclosure. He fixed it & it's working fine now. I hope I have the same luck! My Dimension One Cimmaron model is one of the few that runs on either 110v or 220v. It holds the water temperature real well, so I wasn't worried about running 220v to it. |

Re: Runs All The Time, Never Gets Above 95
is your heater light solid or is it blinking? if yes, count how many times. if not, you could be right and a relay might not be making good contact. if heater light solid, lower the set temp and listen to the board, do you hear a relay click? you should. good luck |

Re: Runs All The Time, Never Gets Above 95
Thanks for posting a suggestion. The Heat light is on, steady, like it was when we had the bad heater that wasn't heating at all and with the new heater, that ws only keeping it at 95. Yes, the flo switch clicks, when I turn the heat down/up. However and this is new, when I turn the heat up, right after the flow switch clicks, the pump shuts off for a brief second & the turns on again? Life is great, when things work as they should. I'm going to contact the company that I purchased the board from.
Thanks for your efforts though. |
