Spa water too hot!
Our three-year-old Laars LX250 spa heater no longer stops heating when the spa water temperature reaches the thermostat setting. The heater just keeps on heating. Last night the water temp reached 118 degrees according to our pool thermometer, at which point we simply shut down the heater. What do you think is wrong? Has the thermostat gone bad? Is this something I might be able to fix myself, or do you think I will need to have the heater professionally serviced?

Either the thermostat has gone south or the relay that controls the valve is stuck in the "on" position.

Thanks. I finally bit the bullet and called in a repairman. He said the water sensor was bad and replaced it. Everything seems to work ok now, for which I am grateful, but I'm not happy about having incurred a $290 repair bill for a Laars heater not yet three years old.
