I replaced my heater and both sensers because my old heater was old and the element was broke. Know it keeps overheating I can set my temp to whatever and it just keeps going up to whatever then overheating and shutting down until I reset it by pushing the up and down arrows or turning the power off.. Need some help |

Re: overheating
The fact that it is heating would indicate that there is flow through your heater causing the Flow switch contacts to closed. So that's not the problem. The fact that it is shutting down when it overheats would indicate that the high-limit sensor is okay. I would say the problem is a faulty thermostat. Here is a link to some basics on how the heater circuit works:

Re: overheating
Disconnect the main power leads to the heater element. You can check the voltage across the leads to see if it is changing or not as you change the temp control up/down on the tub. If it reads a constant 110 or 220 (depending on your tub model), it may be a circuit board problem. My tub has two sensors (temp sensor, high-limit sensor) plust the flow switch, plus the temp control. If this problem were on my tub, I would still check the temp sensor first. I have a variation of this problem that I am working on. Here's the links to two other sites I have posted my problem on. You might find them interesting.

Re: overheating
I had a similiar problem with my hot tub and finally, after replacing everything that you replaced, found it to be a stuck relay switch. I just manually opened and closed the relay a few times and that seems to unstick it and it has worked fine since. I'm by no means an expert, but it worked for me. |

how do you do that then |

Re: overheating
I replaced my temp-sensor, high-limit sensor, flow-switch and heater element (but I didn't hook up the heater element leads). The voltage across the heater element goes to 240v when the heating circuit is suppose to be on, and drops to 40v when it is off. I believe this is normal. My relays are NOT stuck. Perhaps I had a temporary stick and while working on my tub it unstuck itself? My circ pump has 240v all time across the leads, but it does not run. I think it is bad. I checked for an air-lock, but no-go. I'm replacing my circ pump,,,,, again! |

Re: overheating
Mattie187, I just read your original post. If your relays are stuck, then I think it would continue to heat regardless of using the up-down arrows on your control pad. So I don't think you have stuck relays. Someone correct me if I am wrong. It still seems to me like a bad temp-sensor. I would double check that you got the correct replacement sensors for your board. If you didn't, then your board needs to be recalibrated for the sensors you installed. |

Re: overheating

Re: overheating
Hey Mattie,
Sorry to hear of the trouble you're having with your spa. I recently had an OH situation where it also turned out to be my board. I sent mine off to a repair service ( http://www.spa-boards.com/index.php ) and couldn't be happier with the service. The repair turned out to be 1/10th of what I was expecting to pay for a replacement board. Good luck. |

Re: overheating
after the temp reaches the high limit and shuts down the circulation pump is still pumping |
