Worth it to insulate?

I am planning on purchasing sheets of foam insulation and gluing to the inside of my hot tub skirting, and sealing the bottom with plastic sheeting. My theory is that this will help to retain heat, and to reduce noise from the pump. Is this effort worth it, or is the factory insulation sufficient? Should I wrap the exposed pipes with insulation?

Thanks for your advice.

Here is a pic of the underside of my hot tub:

If you live on the equator the current insulation "might" be sufficient. <img src=" title="Laughing" /> Personally, I'd wall off the equipment, fill the entire underside with styrofome packing peanuts and tack some 1/4" plywood on the bottom. Also be sure the sides are sealed up well to prevent any air infiltration.

Thanks for the advice. I considered covering the bottom with plywood, but I am worried about the moisture and rot. Would the plywood hold up?

The bottom is easy. Use exterior grade plywood or.... the plastic should work just as well, provided you don't have squirrel/mice problems (they like to live in there and will make holes in it to get in).

If you're setting this thing on a concrete pad, I'd just let some heavy duty plastic sheeting do the work. Easy enough.

Be advised though, if you insulate this thing too much, (and compartment ventilation is non-existent) it WILL overheat in the summer.
