Cost of re-filling tub with fresh water / daily running cost

OK - the other day I decided to empty my tub after 3 month of heavy usage... <img src=" title="Cool" /> Mind you - the water seemed to be still ok, but I had some guests this past weekend, who had sunscreen on, shampoo in their hair and so on <img src=" title="Mad" /> Needless to say there was much more foam in the tub than what I am used to and for some reason I just felt disgusted getting in the tub. So I decided to empty it and re-fill it with crisp, cold canadian water <img src=" title="Very Happy" /> instead of shocking it with chlorine. Took about 40 min to empty it ( used 2 garden hoses to do it) - filled it up after, which took about one hour. Tub has a volume of 450 USgal ( 1700 lt). Cold water temp was at 50 F ( 10 Deg Celsius). Then I took a look at my electric meter and wrote down how many kWh I would use to heat up the tub to the desired 97 F (36C). Then I went to bed.. <img src=" title="Razz" /> Next morning I woke up and - voila - the temp was at 97 F and it took only 50kWh to heat it up <img src=" title="Cool" /> That's less than $ 4,-for heating up the pool with fresh water !! <img src=" title="Cool" /> . Water doesn't cost anything where I live ( well - guess it is included in my municipal tax bill... ). FWIW - I keep track how much juice the tub uses and compare it with last years reading (before I got the tub). So far I am using about 15 KWh / day more than before ( = $ 1.20,- / day extra) <img src=" title="Cool" /> I expect it do double once winter approaches. Anyone with similar experiences ?

Re: Cost of re-filling tub with fresh water / daily running cost

Yup. About $40 a month for my 2002 Sundance Optima which pushes 480 gallons and electricity costing about $.107. So, roughly $1.34 daily.

Re: Cost of re-filling tub with fresh water / daily running cost

Currently about $30 a month extra c/w last year for my Sundance Hawthorne, that's with 30 mins use every day. No doubt this will increase as winter approaches.
