moving a spa
Considering getting a Leisure Bay Spa from a family member that is moving and can't take it. How difficult are they to move? Can they be set on the side and slide on back of a pick up or do they need to be on a flat bed?
Thanks

Re: moving a spa
I would be very careful moving a Leisure Bay - The cabinet is not attached to the shell - when I move these I will use 2 straps to keep it held together so it can go on it's side.
Hope this helps,

Re: moving a spa
Because pickup beds do not have any support for a tub, get a flatbed trailer to move it. Some don't want to pay for someone to tow it for them and they have shown up here and tried to load it. Some have been successful and some have not. Not using proper support tends to cause stress cracks and although most of those do not leak, do you really want to take the chance? Hot tubs are very expensive to replace and if they get a devastating crack in them, you won't even be able to give the hot tub away free.
Hope this helps!

Re: moving a spa
We have moved our CalSpa twice now using 1" plastic PVC pipe underneath. Use 4 or 5 pieces of pipe and keep moving them as they roll out from the opposite side. Just rolled it up onto our small flat trailer...
