AquaChek® TruTest Digital Test Strip Reader VS Taylor FAS-DPD

I am looking into getting something to test the water of a new hot tub that I hope to have going soon. We will of course need to get something to test the water with.

Does anyone have any experience with the AquaChek® TruTest Digital Test Strip Reader? How well does it work. I have read where the Taylor FAS-DPD seems the be the better test kit to get and was wondering how well the digital strip reader would compare. Seems simple and easier than getting samples and titrating to get the level of each water component being tested.

We are planning on using Di-Clor with a Narure 2 or Spa Frog for sanitization.

I haven't had experience with the testers, although I would love to try one.

In my opinion, stay away from nature2 or spafrog. Stick with the tried and true sanitizers:

Chlorine

Bromine

They seem to be a lot more thorough at killing off the nasties in the spa water.

I am a Taylor fan. It can't be wrong. The Chemistry doesn't lie, doesn't rely on calibrated electronics, etc. Free CL is obvious, CC is obvious, pH is subjective to a degree but obvious, TA is obvious, CA is obvious. Titration is simple -- and obvious. The Watergram calculator makes water balance simple (no real math required). Note that if you go Chlorine or Bromine, the tests (and/or kits) are different for each so be aware of that pearl. In the end, the Taylor will teach you a great deal about water chemistry as it's known today. You will be the hit of the neighborhood pool owners <img src=" title="Rolling Eyes" /> AGE

Had test strips. They suck and I ain't color blind.Got a Aquachek and found it will not give accurate results. Always reads high. Bought a taylor kit. much much better. I also like being able to calculate the amount of acid to add to bring down alk. Also like the fact that I can sit in my tub and perform the tests. relax!!!!. But I wasn't happy plus I had to keep up with my friend Bonnie and purchased a COLORQ pro7. Made by LaMotte and can be purchased at goaskallen.com. This is a digital unit and it is right on. I take my readings and take the sample to my dealer, his readings are virtually the same. Ex. My readings PH 7.6/ALK 103/ CH 125. The dealer PH 7.7/ alk 110/ CH 120. These are all with in calabration limits.
