Bromine Energizer
I bought a packet of bromine "energizer" at my local spa store, it was a few bucks and said something about "keeping a bromide reserve" in the tub. The sales associate was pretty adamant about pushing it on me. It says to add 1/2 oz per 100 gallons. Ironically the package holds 2oz (approx. 400 gals).
What does this do? Should I add it? I dont want to ruin an (already) good thing.

Re: Bromine Energizer
Is there a chemical name on the packet itself? It could be any number of things. Probably sodium bromide? It's just granular bromine. Were you having any problems that made her suggest it or was this based on a water test?

Re: Bromine Energizer
No, they just recommended it. I havent had my water tested and I have no problems, to the best of my knowledge.
The package says it cuts out burning eyes from bromine/chlorine smell. I dont want to add anything and screw up the water balance now.

Re: Bromine Energizer
Is this the stuff?
If so, it's just sodium bromide which is basically a shock for bromine spas. If you're not using bromine as your regular sanitizer don't use it at all. If you use bromine tabs then you can either use it if the water gets a little funky or if you run out of tabs and you need to get by for a day or two. I wouldn't add it just for fun. Wouldn't hurt anything, but it would be a waste.
