Chlorine level seems to drop really fast
I'm using sodium dichlor to sanitize my hot tub. I have soft water and I am using the Spa Frog.
I think it is working okay except that the chlorine level seems to drop very quickly after I shock the water. After shocking it I get these readings from my Accuchek strip:
pH: 7.2 - sounds good
Free ch.: 3 - on the low end of okay
Alk.: 80 - sounds good
Stabilizer: 30-50 sounds good
I'm new to hot tubs but as I understand it, I should only have to shock it once a week. Then use a small amount before each use. But if I test it the next day my chlorine level reads 0. And I basically have to shock it again to get it up to 3+.
Am I doing something wrong? Does this indicate a high level of bacteria being created somehow? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!
