| Green and Cloudy Water |
I have a salt water tub, arctic spa tundra model, can't seem to get the water clear. it has been up and running for 2 weeks and I had already drained it and refilled. I have their new Onzen system that supposedly sanitizes and makes the water crystal clear by generating ozone. I called their tech and he assured me I have the system working, but no one has been in the tub for 2 days and the water yet again is greenish and cloudy... has anyone ever had this problem?
thanks |

Re: Green and Cloudy Water
I too have the exact same tub and the exact same problem. The spa guy thinks it may be the well water in our area. He's coming over again to test tomorrow. Have you had any luck since your last post? |

Re: Green and Cloudy Water
Halogen generators such as Onzen only supply halide (chlorine or bromine) sanitizer and do not automatically balance the hot tub water. While they do reduce your need for chemicals, supplements such as oxidizers (shock) will still be required. The Onzen system has proven to be quite stable with a low rate of warranty returns; most issues have proven to be problems with attaining correct settings, and I hope that this will be the situation here.
It sounds as though perhaps insufficient sanitizer is being produced. If your chlorine or bromine readings are low, immediately shock with non-chlorine oxidizer (your dealer may have included some in your startup kit). Then try the suggestions on p. 5 of the manual for increasing halide production. If these do not help, call the Onzen hotline (the number is in your manual on p. 6). Be sure to have current readings (ORP, pH, hardness, alkalinity, whatever test strips or equipment your dealer provided with your spa).
Best wishes for happy tubbing Tom |

Re: Green and Cloudy Water
We have a CalSpa. And our water is green colored, too. Is this normal? When we first set up the spa -- the tub had a gritty feel to it -- that has gone. We always seem to have high pH and are usually adding pH down to the tub as well as Chlorinating granuales. But the green tinted water bothers me. The interior of our tub is off white with brown/tan specks in it. |
