| Need some Spa Chemical advice. |
I have a 3 year old Solana tx tub that we recently purchased and installed in a enclosed sun porch. Love everything about it but am considering a chemical change. Included with the spa was a large assortment of Boqua chemicals and we have been using them for a few weeks and the water looks good feels good caused no problems with the family's skin and all is well, except..........It makes us all Gag and cough when breathing fumes from water. I'm sure if we were outside where the wind would take the fumes away it would be ok, but not with my setup. We have a small pool outside and I've always used cholorine and have been very happy with the results and am considering going with chlorine with the tub as well. What am I missing??? Is this the direction I should go? If I do make the change are the other Boqua chemical ok to use with a chlorine solution such as the waterline control, oxidizer, ph adjusters? Thanks for you help. |

Re: Need some Spa Chemical advice.
We have had the same problem with Baqua and enclosed areas. I would switch to chlorine. Only use granulated Dichlor. Don't use tablets of any kind and I don't like using liquid. With the TX you should use 1/2 teaspoon daily. You can use the pH adjusters but nothing else. The Baqua oxidizer is hydrogen peroxide. Drain the spa completely and I would suck as much water out as possible with a shop vac. |

Re: Need some Spa Chemical advice.
Sorry about the long delay to reply Peteboy, been out of town. I've done just as you suggest and the water sparkles and have been getting along great. I do have one other issue that I might try to address here. We keep the spa at the maximum 104 degree's but the water doesn't seem that warm. I float a thermometer also and it reads at just over 100 degree's. When refilling spa the heater seems to warm the water up plenty fast and seems to be working as is should. Is there anything that we could do that would allow us the readjust the thermostat to raise the temp a couple degrees? Thank again. |

Re: Need some Spa Chemical advice.
Depending on the year the display will go above 104 to U1,U2,U3 which will be 105, 106, 107, etc. Use an oral thermometer to get an accurate reading - floaters aren't very accurate. |

Re: Need some Spa Chemical advice.
Pete I have a large supply of calcium hypochlorite (hth brand 47.6%) for my pool. Can I use that to shock? what do you recommend I use with the Dichlor to shock? Also for my last question..... " title="Wink" /> how about adding an ozinator? Is that something I should consider? If so what type and brand would your recomend for my tub?? Is there a lower priced ozination to consider? Thanks again. |

Re: Need some Spa Chemical advice.
I would use a non chlorine shock - MPS. Ozone is not good for the TX because it will only run during heating or filter cycles and IMO it is not enough to matter. |
