| Ozone Generator Maintenance |
What type of maintenance needs to be done to CD Oznone Generators. My generator quit making bubbles. The venturin is clean, the check valves are operating ok. The only thing I can see is that I cannot get much air to go through the ubit itself. I have narrowed the issue down to the generator itself. It seems as though something is blocking the airway. Any help is appreciated.

Do you get bubbles if you remove the tube from the ozone generator? |

Yes, that is how I know it is the ozone generator. |

Is there a filter on the ozone intake? Is there an ozone intake?
Possible some nitric acid accumulated in the tubing, but it's liquid.
Be careful taking it apart, quite possible the CD cell had broken, and will need replacment. |

No filter on inlet. Tubing did have some liquid in it. I blew all the hose out and tried blowing the cd out but cannot. There is also a restrictor inline before the inlet. It seems to be plugged also. I was able to get some build up out of the CD and removed the restrictor. I am now getting bubbles. I am assuming I am getting ozone production. |

If the bubbles stink like the ones from my 200mg/hr ozone you'll know straight away if it's working or not. If you've ever been too close to a laser printer you'll know the smell.
If no smell and it has it's own air pump could be the CD chip as previously suggested.
A few sites list replacement CD chips but you can get a whole new unit for only $40US so why bother (unless it's still under warranty).
One more thing - are there any ozone units with internal check valves (i'm only a noob so don't know, sorry) ? If so maybe thats dead and needs replacing. Cheaper than a CD chip !
Good luck sorting it out ! |

I know the ozone smell. I run a 100 Mg/Hr unit on a reef tank. The unit on my spa never had the smell. Of course without an air dryer the spa unit isn't working as efficiently as it could be. |
