| Sundance Micro Clean Filter vs. standard filter |
I bought a new Sundance Altamar a couple of months ago, and set it up for Bromine. I test every 2 days with the Color Q Pro7 kit, and keep all my water within the recommended limits. The problem I have is when I remove the Micro Clean Plus filter cartridge (every 2 or 3 weeks) and wash it out, then re-install it. The next day the Bromine level drops to.2 or.3 and the spa water is cloudy. I keep 2 to 3 Bromine tabs in the Weir door, shock each week, and keep the PH and ALK in perfect balance. It takes several days to get my Bromine level back to 2-4 PPM, and the water to clear up again.
I feel like the filter material must absorb and hold the Bromine, and washing it takes all this out. I did this over the weekend, and then added a "ground up" bromine tablet, which seems to get the Bromine level back to 6 pretty quickly. Then the tabs in the feeder slowly took over and now I am back to 3-4 PPM. The tub also has the deluxe Sundance Ozone system installed.
Would I be better off changing the filter over to the earlier model Sundance Filter (6540-488), and keep 2 on hand (one in tub & clean one on shelf) and rotate them every month? Would this filter be better at not retaining the Bromine verses the Micro Clean Plus unit?
I just don't like the fact that I have a perfectly balanced tub for a couple of weeks, then loose all my disenfectant when I wash the filter...and have to work to get my Bromine back to normal. This is a pain, and I think it is all due to the new filter cartridge material. Other than this, I am really enjoying this tub and the theraputic attributes. |
