| cold weather water chemistry |
I inheritted a spa when I moved last June. Through reading this site, I thought I had pretty much figured out the ins and outs of operating it. Now that the cold weather has arrived and the heater is on, I am having problems regulating things. it seems as though that the hot water causes the bromine in my spa floater thingy to dissolve faster. the result is that I end up with a very high sanitizer level. I adjusted the floater to release the smallest amount of bromine possible and I still have the same problem. The spa does not get used much. Should I bag the floater and just shock it weekly? While we're on the subject, the whole floater thing/water chemistry voodoo has been pretty much trial and error, since I don't know the capacity of my tub. It's a '88 Pacific marquis that seats 4-5 adults comfortably. Any advice you could give would be appreciated.
Thanks.
