| newbie chemical question |
hi new to the spa thing, aquirred a 93 cal spa for free and rebuilt framing and siding, filled with h2o, and up and running after small heater gasket leak. wondering what the basic chemicals i need to get the water to where it needs to be. if some some could give me some insight as what i need to buy that would be great. have spa store close by just dont want to be sold chem i dont need oh yeah im on standard city water thanks |

by now you might have already gotten your chemicals, but the simple answer is "it depends on your water". You may need ph up, ph down, or both. I use muratic acid for my ph down since that is the only way i ever need to adjust my ph. Chlorine is my sanitizer of choice. So, in my situation I only use ph down and chlorine. I never need to adjust my hardness so I don't need the hardness adjusting chems. It all really depends on your water. I too am on city water, but it's different from tower to tower, and city well to city well. Just a half mile away I have another residence with a tub that is on a different tower/city well and they have to use ph up constantly and hardness increaser. |
