| silly experiment ? silver and copper ag cu |
I just cant seem to leave a good thing alone. My water is great and relatively chem free despite high usage because I have a good ozonator (delzone total eclpse platinum), good filters and a ag silver cartrige. Plus my water is nice and ph neutral to start ant the hotsprings triple filter seems to do great. So I go with the minimum sodium diclor as per swines counsel. yeah yeah but since If it aint broke dont fix it is not the tinkerers motto, I now have a pure silver coin sitting on a copper bar in my filter compartment. I got all crazy reading about sterilizing with silver and copper, but am no chemist. Iunderstand it is silver and copper ions that attach to things and kill them. I have no idea as to whether putting elemental coper and silver in the water will do anything harful or helpful. I guess cause the silver cartridges are a bleeding 30 bucks inspired me. Any one know if my experiment will help or hinder or not do jack to my tub? Am I silver plating slowly my heating element? I believe i may have a slight greenish cupric hue it the water. heck one of the additives one can use is called metal be gone, and here I've gone andintroduced it. Pioneers did put copper and silver coins in their milk since they didnt have refrigeration. Many ancient peoples used silver decanters for water as well for sterilization purposes. |
