| water turned milk white after adding increaser ** HELP asap |
the ta and ph were low. added soda ash and ph is good and so is the ta but my water turned milk white. i have been running the filter ut it is not clearing up and i notice a white power residue on the tub waterline area. also when the jets are on it bubbles like club soda and tickles your nose. how can i clear the water up? i took the water to be tested while white and i was told everything is at perfect levels. i tried a claifier and nothing worked. when i use the test stips my self it says ta is high and ph is good so who's reading of the levels are right and why the milk color.
thanks

Re: water turned milk white after adding increaser ** HELP asap
Hi,
Hard to tell without a water sample.
How often are you cleaning the filters? If you clean them too often (more than weekly) then they wont work as well - a dirty filter will filter better than a clean one!
Try a shock/oxidiser to dissolve the suspended particles. Surprised a clarifier didnt work, but will be wasted if filters are cleaned after.
When did u last change the water? If its 2-3months old, drain it and refill, then balance again.
Hope this is helpful. |

Re: water turned milk white after adding increaser ** HELP asap
okay I use bromine not chlorine so i put non chlorine shock in. the same day i put the soda ash in i also did a small shock in the morning several hours prioir. it is so white i cannot see to the bottom and after the jets shut off there is a white power substance all over the tub. the filter is cleaned evyer 2.5 weeks i hose it down. the water was last changed one month ago. all my levels ph ta hardness and bromine are perfect now but the water turned white like milk i do not see much anything but white water there are no floating particles.
How long after the shock shuld I see a difference if it is going to work? I am thinking I may have to drain and start over but I do not want the same thing to happen. I was told i added too much soda ash even though it correct the alkalinity and ph.
What should I do? I am so new at the whole hot tub thing!
Thanks |

Re: water turned milk white after adding increaser ** HELP asap
Does this whiteness only appear when the jets are running? Or is it that way when everything is off, and the water is still? |

Re: water turned milk white after adding increaser ** HELP asap
okay this morning the water was still as white as my milk in my coffee so i drained the tub. As the water lowered the whole tub was white with a powder residue. i washed and rinsed it. i filled the tub and it was crystal clear...then the jets came on and some water was still in there from previous so now i have cloudy water i can see the bottom but slighlty cloudy i added metal free as filling and my bromine starter and tabs in the floater. it is now heating. i will not add anything else until tomorrow. what will clear the water now. I am hoping since the cloudy water is not so dense as before that maybe the qlarrifer will work this time. any ideas what happen so i do not do it again?
thanks
