1st time buyer
I am in the process of shopping (to death) for my first hot tub. I have watched the ins and outs (ups and downs) that my father has seen with various brands since the early 80's. He's now a hot springs guy - even after the last one failed beyond repair (leaks).
My main concern is hydrotherapy / price (around $4K). 4 person is plenty big with a lounge.
Any way, here's where I am.
I have a price from a "known" dealer on a used (2002) vanguard for $3500 - but only a six month warranty. Upside is the dealer (somewhat) and as I understand it this is a high-end spa. Obvious downside is the warranty.
Next is a viking Royale from watson's. $4199. I like the tub, I do alot of business with Watson's but the number of jets (31) seems a little light for a 78x78 tub.

Finally (and this is a wildcard) is a ALPS (associated leisure products) tub from Royal swimming pools. The tubs look nice, are well powered, american made and have lots of jets. Downside is I can't find anything about the brand.

I appreciate any and all feedback.

Re: 1st time buyer
First I have to say I am biased to HotSpring. I tell everyone I wouldn't buy any spa used except HotSpring. Even with a 6 month warranty you almost can't go wrong. Definitely check it out very well. Maybe have a HotSpring tech look at it. And only check it out full and up & running. Check the underside of the cover - if it's turning white and getting a rough texture then I would stay away from it - the owner didn't keep track of the pH & alkalinity. HotSpring has excellent operating costs and super reliability. They are the most structurally sound spa out there. I am a service tech so I shoot from the hip.

Thanks!
This is a hotsprings dealer so that should help.
It has the "roto massage" or whatever it's called - are these prone to break?
