| Buying a used tub. Here's my concerns... Let me know. |
Im looking at a used Jacuzzi brand hot tub. The tub is in very good shape on the outside. My concerns are that the owner got the tub from his parents approx 2 years ago. He said when he got it that it worked great. He never got a chance to hook up the tub therefore I cannot see the tub in working order. Should I be concerned about the motors seized up or any other issues? He wants $500.00 for it. |

I'd be concerned about everything on the tub. You need to see it working before you shell out that much dough. The tub might not have been drained properly and there could be freeze damage. Circuitry could be damaged. Motors could be seized. About the only thing you can test without water is the cover, and even that you won't be sure about. |

need to see the tub running... " title="Cool" />, its not a $500 asking price, its about how much will it cost to fix it if something is not right... " title="Idea" /> |

The others are right! Don't ever trust someone who says it "used" to work just fine! Freeze damage is a common thing, which means replacing pipes, new manifolds, etc. Pumps and heater are other issues. We always tell our customers that we are more than happy to check out a tub for them, but without it running, it's impossible to do. "Buyer Beware" is what should be stated here. Unless you are getting the tub for free, it is usually not worth the time, grief, and money to get them back up and running. |

Re: Buying a used tub. Here's my concerns... Let me know.
I would not even consider buying this tub. There's a reason it's being sold, especially as cheaply as $500. I think if it worked perfectly, it would be in use and not for sale. It always seems that the ones that have major problems, are never hooked up and running, along with some story about it working just fine way-back-when. If it really works great, get the seller to prove it by filling it up and running it. If they can't do that, then they're more than likely hiding something. It will be more of a headache for you, once you discover the problems and have to find somebody to fix them.
Just my opinion. |
