| Hot Tub/Spa Energy Efficiency Ratings |
Anyone know where you can find the information about how much energy the spa/hot tub will use, or if there is like a list of 4 star or 1 star product? |

The Canadian Office of Energy Efficiency is looking into developing test standards so that hot tubs made in or imported into Canada must meet certain minimum energy requirements. Once this happens, they can be given an energywise or energystar type rating.
The Canadian Standards Association will be meeting in October 2007 to decide whether or not to proceed with this project. If the project is passed, the next step will be to strike a task committee to advise on the standards. This committee would consist of representatives from industry, government, engineering associations, consumer groups, and other interested parties.
If it proceeds, the entire project is expected to take about three years, which means that Canada might have energy rated hot tubs beginning about 2010.
A similar process may be happing in individual states (in Canada, energy regulation is federal). |

The project is going forward. The next step will be to determine appropriate test parameters and conditions. |
