Hotsprings - Sovereign
I am shopping around for a used hot tub. I've found a 5 year old Hotsprings Sovereign. Is this a good spa in terms of reliability? Does anyone know if replacement parts are any higher for this brand than others?
Also, I am cluelss about the electircal requirements. I had an electrician come out to the house who told me that I would have to get a new electrical panel. He couldn't give me an estimate until I told him whether this model is a "plug in" or if it has to be "hard wired". Does anyone know?
Thanks

a plug in spa is a 120V spa, a hard wired spa is a 240V spa. Either way you will need a new dedicated circuit to run the spa. If it's the 240V model, you will need to have a GFI subpanel installed. I can't say wether your house's main panel can support this tub or not. If it's a 120V model, it should have a cord with a GFI plug on the end of it. If you don't have any cords comming out, it's probably the 240V hard wired.
IMHO Hot Springs shouldn't make spas, but I'm also biased against them. Many people have good luck with them.
