What are the filtration differences??

I am planing to buy a new hot tub, hopefully very soon. I have narrowed my hot tub search down to two manufactures Jacuzzi J 480 and Hot Spring Aria. Just wondering the differences between the filter systems of these models.

If you have any ideas, please pass on.

Re: What are the filtration differences??

The J-480 has 1 filter about 75 sq ft and a polishing bag - we recommend replacing the polishing bag every 4 months. The filter comes with a microban coating which helps kill bacteria. This coating is only good for 1 year. If you want the coating you must replace the filter yearly even though it can last 4 or more years. I believe if you use the correct amount of sanitizer you don't need to replace it yearly. The Aria has 5 Tri-X filters. 1 is dedicated to a 24 hour circulation pump. They say these filters can be cleaned in the dishwasher (we don't recommend that) and that they can last 7 - 10 years. I am a certified tech for both brands and I am partial to HotSpring. I think it's energy efficiency is much better, it has a stronger structure (you can shim them to level them - not so w/ Jacuzzi). The J-480 filters 50,000 gallons a day - OVERKILL and less efficient. The Aria filters 5,000 gallons a day - PLENTY. I would guess the Jacuzzi to run you about $30 a month or so in electrical cost, the Aria maybe $12 or so, both depending on usage. Check the Jacuzzi warranty close. There are many parts that are not covered for the 5 years. The parts on HotSpring not covered for 5 years are the pillow (at delivery), the light 1 year, ozone 1 year, the cover 2 years, and any accessory installed is 1 year including the stereo. The Jacuzzi will have a little softer massage so you can have a longer massage. The HotSpring will have a more penetrating massage to get the mussels quicker. Both are very adjustable so you can change the jet pressures. The J-480 will seat more people. And has more bells & whistles. If you are getting the stereo, the Jacuzzi stereo has a much better sound. The HotSpring has a wireless stereo with IPOD. Have you test soaked both spas? I recommend this.
