difference between self cleaning and non

My boyfriend and I are purchasing a hot tub. We are going to a local dealer in our small town that sells Hydropool. The biggest cost difference is the self cleaning feature. Is this worth the extra 2-3k when there is only going to be the two of us using it?

Thanks for any help

I am not familier with this "self cleaning" feature, but to me, it would seem more a marketing ploy. About the only "cleaning" required in a hot tub is filter cleaning/replacement, and a water changeout every 3 or so months. I can't see a hot tub that doesn't require a filter change and cleaning every so often.

Now, if I consider the use of an Ozonator, it *might* be termed as self-cleaning, but what that does is helps to sanitize your water and allows you to use less chemicals in the tub. Generally, an add-on Ozonator only costs 250-350 from the factory. Aftermarket ones are cheaper yet. If this is that 2K add on, do a simple inquiry to the one without it and see if it can be added later. In most cases, it can, and at a cheaper cost.

I have heard of the "self-cleaning" feature on some tubs. All it means is that the tub has a main drain in the bottom of the tub so if you get debris in the bottom of your tub it will be taken care of. Marketing ploy! <img src=" title="Cool" />

it simply refers to the filtration system of the spa. as it seems to be claiming that it would make you save time in cleaning...i don't think its worth the 2-3k difference
