55NINS - Flow-Thru Heater Element

Inquiry posted on 10/02/04
Hello,
Please tell me what is the trick to installing a new element in the heater body without breaking it?
I tried to install one before and it fits too tight without really compressing it down and cracking the insulators.
( I am just trying to decide if I should order one of these elements or a full assembly) Thankyou!
Response
Some of these can be dogs, particularly on the older cal-spas PS series with the bottlenecked ends. Sometimes the mfgrs specified tighter element designs to get these things in, (after all somebody got it together at least once without breaking it - go figure).

I've found that rotating slightly back and forth, and sliding and compressing simultaneously (Yeah I know, tell you something you don't already know), will always get it in place. Even on the worst ones I've been successful, of course, your own mileage will vary. I always do everything I can to do it without replacing the entire assembly, it just makes more sense money wise.

i have an vintage 1989 A.S.I. spa and system that I inherited when I bought this house. usually, when the heater kicks on it starts the low speed pump and keeps the water constant. now the pump runs continuously and the heater indicator light remains on, but the water is cold. this looks like the element i saw in my system when i had the pump replaced recently. do you think this would work with a system the age and manufacturer the same as mine?
Response
Yep. Absolutely. I've replaced tons of ASI elements (this pack has been manufactured for almost 20 years so it's vintage 'everything' :-), and this is the one you need.

I am in the need for a element for my tub. It runs off of 220 volts , flow-thru element, lugs in the middle of the element being about 8.5" long. the lugs are about 1 3/8" apart.
Response
This should work for you, it's a generic replacement that fits virtually all systems.

What are the dimensions of this part. In particular the distance from each terminal to the end of the element. Thanks.
Response
From the furthest terminal it is exactly 8 inches to the end of the element, from the closest terminal it is exactly 6 1/2 inches to the end. The two terminals are 1 1/2 inches apart and there is 1 3/4 inches of element going behind the closest terminal. total width is 1 1/4 inches at it's widest point and height (from top of terminals to bottom of element is 1 3/4 inches. Hope this helps even though the measurements should not matter for most systems.

I have an A.S.I. Class Act spa pak, with a 50 Amp, 220 VAC, 6 KW heating element. The unit is approximately five years old. Will this heating element work? I wish to take the spa pack apart only once. So, ahve not pulled the current bad element out at this time. Thank you very much.
Response
This element will replace just about any element in a 2 inch flow Thru manifold. If you have a typical flo thru manifold like the EHA 1015, it will work.

will this fit a RMF HEATER #C2550-0456,240 V 5.5 W IF SO WHAT # DO I NEED TO ORDER,THANKS.
Response
The numbers you have don't really help very much, these things are run of production and fit about 90% of the heaters out there, especially the RMF versions.

As far as ordering which one, select the one you prefer. The lower power, or the high power (5500) like what yours has. If your spa uses a digital / electronic control system we always recommend the lower power element to help your circuit board heater relays to last longer in the future.

I need a new element for a Fiberglass Specialties, Inc. baptistry heater. This element seems to match up, any experience with this unit? Does this element fit?
Response
Many of these units will fit the most common elements available. Order it and if it doesn't work out then we are easy to work with for parts returns. Just don't beat it with a hammer to try to make it fit like some of our other customers have done. :-)

Hi,will this element fit my 1995 dimension one little dipper hot tub. thanks
Response
This element is considered a universal replacement element for almost any "flow thru " heater manifold. The exceptions being... a manifold that has the element welded in place... in other words no NUTS holding the element into the manifold. Or an extremely short manifold. This element is typically used in any flo thru of 12 inches or longer.
