Slip vs Street Also Called Spigot
Slip fittings have an internal socket. The pipe slides inside the fitting and is glued using PVC primer and cement.
Street fittings also called spigot have one male end. That male end has the same outside diameter as the same nominal pipe size. It inserts directly into another slip fitting.
Example for 2 inch plumbing
The inside diameter of the slip side accepts 2 inch pipe
The outside diameter of the street side measures approximately 2.375 inch
How to Measure Spa Plumbing
Nominal pipe size does NOT measure the same as actual pipe diameter.
Always measure the outside diameter of your pipe before ordering fittings.
If your pipe measures approximately 2.375 inch outside diameter, you have 2 inch plumbing.
