Standard spa pump shaft seals are used in many hot tub pump repairs and wet end rebuilds. These seals prevent water from leaking along the motor shaft where it enters the pump wet end.
If the pump seal fails, water can leak between the wet end and motor and may eventually damage the pump motor bearings.
Common symptoms of a worn pump shaft seal include:
Hot tub pump leaking water
Spa pump leaking at the motor shaft
Water dripping under the pump
Pump leaking between motor and wet end
Replacing the pump shaft seal is often necessary whenever a wet end is rebuilt or an impeller is replaced.
