Product Description
Temperature & Hi Limit Sensor
Sensor, Balboa, 96" Temp 3/8" and Hi Limit, 1/4" Diameter, 4-pin.. Both wires 96" Long.
Balboa Temperature & Hi-Limit Sensor Set – 4 Pin (Non M7)
This Balboa Temperature & Hi-Limit Combination Sensor Set is a standard replacement used on many Balboa spa control systems that use the 4-pin connector and are NOT M7 systems.
The assembly includes both the temperature sensor and the high-limit sensor in one harness with a 4-pin connector featuring curly-finger style terminals.
This is an Uncommon sensor used in many older Balboa control systems. Most system use a shorter Hi Limit Wire.

Sensor Mounting Locations
The temperature sensor is typically mounted in a thermowell installed in the spa shell wall.
The high-limit sensor is normally mounted directly to the heater tube or heater body.
In some uncommon spa systems, both sensors may be mounted on the heater assembly using either:
• A thermowell
• A pinch plate mounted to the heater tube
These systems are not M7 systems, even though both sensors are located on the heater.
Installation Note
If your temperature sensor is installed in a wall-mounted thermowell, water may come out of the thermowell when the sensor is removed.
Be prepared for this before pulling the sensor out.
Always ensure you are qualified to service the spa before beginning repairs.
Important Diagnostic Information
This sensor set is rarely the cause of a problem.
Although these sensors can fail, many SN errors are caused by other issues such as:
• Wires chewed or cut by rodents
• Loose or dirty sensor connection at the control board
• Damaged wiring harness
Before replacing sensors, it is always a good idea to:
-
Turn power OFF to the spa.
-
Unplug the sensor from the control board.
-
Inspect the wiring and connector.
-
Plug the connector back in securely.
-
Restore power and check the system.
Other Causes of Spa Error Codes
If your spa is displaying an OH (Overheat) code, the cause may be unrelated to the sensor.
Possible causes include:
• Pressure switch stuck closed
• Heater relay stuck closed on the control board
• Water flow restriction through the heater
• Circulation pump problems
• Dirty filter
Always diagnose the spa properly before replacing parts.
Return Policy Notice
We do not accept returns on used electrical parts.
Always verify your diagnosis and make sure this is the correct part before installation.
Know before you go.
