The Waterway 4.0 HP SPL EX2 is an efficient and powerful side discharge hot tub and spa pump with 48 frame motor. Waterway marks this unit as a 4Hp with the special SPL rating, but it is truly and sometimes marketed as a 3 Hp. This is why it is important to match your voltage and horsepower rather than just going off of the label. The threaded fittings on this pump measure 3" across but are considered a 2" union and the wetend is adjustable to three positions. You can use this 2 speed pump to replace single speed versions - just wire up high speed only!
The Ex2 was designed to directly replace the Aqua-Flo Xp2/Xp2e and makes a great retrofit option for other discontinued side discharge pumps.
